A structured rose from an up and comeing winery. Broc Cellars is the brain child of Chris Brockway and based in the city of Berkeley. Chris has always had an enduring love of California wine and Zinfandel in particular, however he felt that the "bigger is better" ethos of California winemaking was overtaking good taste. So after learning about the idea of natural wine while studying oenology at UC Fresno, Chris set out to make lighter, easier drinking wine that spoke more to place. In the process Broc Cellars has become one of the vangaurds of the "New California" movement, focusing on low ABV everyday wines with no additives.
This particular bottle is Broc's take on Cerasuolo D'Abruzzo, a traditional rose style from Abruzzo in central Italy. The organic grapes are 95% Montepulciano and 5% Sangiovese and are all from the Fox Hill vineyard in Mendocino. The grapes are foot trodden and fermented in stainless steel. The wine is then aged for 6 months in stainless steel as well.
This structured, cool weather rose has notes of tarragon, lavender, dark cherry, and raspberry seeds.
