From master distiller Paul Hletko, in Evanston, IL, the home town of the Temperence Movement. All the different FEW products bear labels with depictions of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. The FEW Rye, named Whiskey Advocate's Craft Whiskey of the Year in 2013, is 70% Rye, 20% corn, 10% malted barley. Wine yeast utilized for fermentation.
Intense toasted rye bread and caramelized brown sugar on the nose, then sweet apricot and cinnamon. Entry is heady and grain-forward, with a lovely mid-palate of sweet molasses and oak. Finish is long, with lingering spice. Outstanding!
