The long awaited straight rye whiskey from the New York Distilling Company in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Mash: 69-72% (all NY State) Rye in this batch. Later batches will be up to 75% rye. Aged in full-sized 53 gallon barrels for three years.
Nose: Big allspice, cinnamon notes at first, then salted toffee followed by peach and red cherry compote. Finally, more spicy cinnamon stick and kiss of dark chocolate.
Palate: Entry chewy, pleasantly fiery, toasted rye bread with orange marmalade. Lingering spearminty finish.
Overall, an exciting new straight rye whiskey, solid and flavorful, and a superb value.
