From the winemaker Christopher Nolan:
Overall, 2018, on the North Fork, was a lean vintage. I picked the Merlot from my friend Anthony Sannino's property in Southold in the middle of October. I picked the Cabernet Franc from the Macari's (Joe and Alexandra's place) in Mattituck. (The two sites are 10 miles distant from one another). The two varietals were mostly destemmed (maybe 15% whole-cluster) and then fermented separately in open-top puncheons (and, of course, the fermentations were 100% spontaneous). I macerated each of the young wines for a fairly long time (about 6 weeks on the skins). The wines were aged in old barrels & blended immediately before bottling, and bottled at 18 months. I'm releasing the wine just now (after 6 months "relaxing" time in bottle).
