A distillery with a nickname: "The Hector of the West" Hails from Campbelltown, in the Western Highlands. Oldest independent family owned distillery in Scotland (1828). Water source for bottling is Crosshill Loch. Only Scottish barley is used. Full production process occurs under one roof in Campbelltown; floor malting, maturation and bottling. Malted barley is exposed to only 6 hours of peat smoke during kilning. Washbacks are made of boatskin larch, which is more expensive than the Oregon Pine traditionally used. 70 hour fermentation. 2 ½ times distilled. 100% Oloroso. (50 fresh, 50 refill). Un-chillfiltered and natural colour. 46% abv.
