A member of the Suntory distilling family, the single malt whisky from Hakushu is startlingly different from that of its more famous sibling Yamazaki. The nose is delicately spicy, with appealing grassy, nutty aromas. The taste starts off with a lemon-lime citrusy notes that fades to reveal pear, grass, and a hint of campfire smoke. The finish is gingery with touches of black tea with honey and lemon. Lightly buttery texture and a crisp finish.
