A blend of premier coastal grapes from Los Alamos, Rancho Vinedo, Garey, Bien Nacido, and Le Bon Climat vineyards. This cuvee really reflects the 2009 vintage with balanced fruit flavors, structure, and surprising richness. The wine was fermented in open top tanks which were punched down by hand twice a day until dry (about two weeks). The wine was then pressed and put into barrel with plenty of lees to give the wine complexity and depth. The wine was racked and fined with egg whites in April and bottled in July.
This aromatic wine has notes of clove and coriander on the nose, with undertones of strawberries. The oak gives this wine subtle hints of lees and earthiness. The flavors of this full bodied Pinot Noir are predominantly that of wild strawberries and sour cherries. The finish has a wonderful balance of tannins and acid with the fruit flavors.
