The current disgorgement of the Gruet Gold Label is 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir. The fruit is grown at 4300' above sea level in the arid climate of Central New Mexico. The significant diurnal fluctuations in this high altitude climate provide ideal growing conditions for both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay - and it shows in the wine! The fruit is hand-picked at the optimal time in mid-summer to achieve just the right balance of ripe fruit flavors and piquant acidity. Consistency of style is maintained by blending wines from different vineyards and harvest years. Aged for 24 months "en tirage."
