Current distillery was built in 1958, same water source as original distillery. The distillery owns 600 acres. 3 rows of fermenters. 3 and 4 day fermentations. All are sour mash. The numbers are actually lost in history; no one really knows what they mean anymore. Same mashbill on the 8 and 12. Charcoal is estate produced from sugar maples. Single story warehouses. Comes off the first distillation at 115 proof, and the second at 130 proof.
45% abv. 8-10 years old. 84% corn, 8% rye and 8% barley. Earthy aromas. A little drier, leaner and earthier (terra cotta) than the #8, with a touch more complexity. Big butterscotch note on the mid.
