Dublin based wine merchants Mitchell & Sons created this brand around 1887. In 1920 it was confirmed that Jameson's Bow Street distillery was supplying pure pot still whiskey to this company for their line. The "Spot" refers to a series of coloured dots Mitchell & Sons would use to mark certain casks in their version of an aging hierarchy. It is one of the last bonded whiskies produced in the republic. Created from a distillation of malted and un-malted barley and aged 7 to 10 years in both used bourbon and Sherry wood.
