Distilled and aged at the newly restored Willett Distilling Co. In Bardstown. A blending of high-rye and (barely-legal) 51% rye mashbills, bottled at cask strength with no chill-filtering. The nose is robust and spicy with aromas of lemon pepper, tobacco, honey and vanilla. The taste is thick, spicy, with a bit of corn sweetness at first, then notes of cinnamon, caramel, and vanilla. Delicate accents of wintergreen and star anise are wonderfully integrated. A testament to the generations of know-how that go into this bottle, surprisingly approachable at cask strength.
