A classic wine from a place with some real history. Domaine de la Bastide is currently run by Vincent Boyer in lands adjacent to the imposing Chateau de Suze-la-Rousse in the southern Rhone. Within the domaine are the remnants of an old Knights Templar farm and an even older vestige of a Roman wine tub. The domaine was bought by Vincent's father Bernard and is focused on traditional wines grown organically.
This particular wine is a blend of 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache 10% Carignan and from 38 year old vines that have all been fully destemmed after harvest. After a 15 day fermentaion in tank, the young wine is then aged for 6 months in tanks as well. The tanks are a mix of stainless steel and concrete.
This classic yet easy wine has notes of figs, black olives and tobacco.
