The idea behind Gorro is very simple, to look for older vineyards in Vinho Verde and craft the wines in the simplest, most transparent way to convey the grape, climate, and soil. The term Gorro refers to the ubiquitous flat cap worn by old farmers around the world, but it is a particularly pertinent name in Portugal, as more than any other country in western Europe, it is still old farmers and older people who tend to the vines and are the bedrock of the wine industry. The labels of the bottles are adorned with beautifully rendered, hand drawn faces of these older farmers.
