A textured rosato from a distinct figure within the Tuscan wine world. The Montenidoli estate is owned by Elisabetta Fagiuoli, located on a mountain just above the walled town of San Gimignano. Now Tuscany as a whole is very red wine focused for the most part, and does not contain any traditional DOC/DOCG's for rose wine. However when Elisabetta noticed the marine fossil laden soils of the estate (much like Chablis), she realised that rosato of true distinction could be made here.
The wine itself is made 100% out of Canaiolo, a grape with a longstanding reputaion as a blending partner rather than a varietal wine. Usually added into Chianti blends to add structure and depth, grown on limestone soils it can make incredible wine all on its own. The hand harvested and organic grapes are fermented and aged in stainless steel with some time in bottle before release.
This structured, slightly robust rosato has notes of mandarins, tarragon, talcum powder and raspberries.
