Borroso Mezcal is a negociant company founded by sisters Maria and Claudia Turrent in Baja California, with the goal of bringing the work of smaller mezcaleros to a wider public. The Espadin 42% from Javier Mateo in Santiago Matatlan has wonderfully fresh, high toned aromas of green melon, canteloupe, honeysuckle, and lemon verbena that intermingle with funky cheese and dark tanned leather smoke. Medium bodied and silky texture, with ripe melon and apricot notes on the finish. The liter bottle is a fantastic value. The wax seal on the cap can be a bit of a chore to get through, but your persistence will be rewarded. 42% abv.
