I'm a gigantic fan of the folks at Mani di Luna, just outside of Perugia in Umbria. It's run by three friends with an uncompromising vision of sustainability and biodynamic farming. They make fun, irreverent, delicious wines that taste like the rural Etruscan countryside. I always reach for the Mani di Luna Sangiovese Checcarello 2021 when I want a hearty comforting wine. It's rustic, earthy and funky in all the right places. Notes of plum, mushroom and walnut, with plenty of acidity, makes this the perfect accompaniment for a baked ziti or a pepperoni pie. Pick one up today, you can thank me later!
