In 2008, after nearly 15 years at the helm as the oenologist for the famed Alvaro Palacios, Joan Asens returned to his hometown and began Orto Vins with three close friends from Masroig, all with ancestral vineyards to call their family's own. These miniscule vineyards (20ha in total) are nurtured under strict organic and biodynamic practices.
