Situated at 2600' elevation, the Shinshu Mars Distillery in Nagano Prefecture is Japan's highest. Majority of the blend is corn based, balanced with light malt and aged in ex-bourbon barrels. Named for Japanese whisky pioneer Kichiro Iwai, it has generous malty and fruity aromas, and nice weight and texture in the mouth. Priced to be your everyday dram, and it definitely delivers on that promise. Don't be afraid to treat it like a bourbon in cocktails. 40% abv.
