A vatting of single malts finished in 5 different barrel types: Port, Sherry, Madeira, White Burgundy and Napa Cabernet. Medium golden color, shimmering. On the nose, fresh, lively tropical fruit and brine, then vanilla, dusty leather and cigar leaf. In the mouth, rich but not plush. Expansive yet focused. Dried fruits, chocolate, leather, brine. A long finish with a pleasant burn and good earthy notes. Overall, a terrific whiskey. From nose to finish, definitely punches above its weight. - DTP
