A robust rose from stewards of the land. Azienda Agricola Tiberio is based in the town of Cugnoli, just west of the port city of Pescara in Abruzzo. Tiberio was started in 2000 by Riccardo Tiberio who found a plot of Trebbiano Abruzzese, a rarity compared to the much more common and related but very different Trebbiano Tuscano (aka Ugni Blanc). Wanting to preserve this land that has had vines on it since Roman times, he purchaced it with the help of a vine nursery. Now being run by his children Cristiana and Antonio, Tiberio wants to carry this site's long legacy forward by focusing on native varietals and practicing sustainable agriculture.
This wine is Tiberio's expression of Cerasuolo D'Abruzzo, a traditional rose style of the area made from 100% Montepulciano. It is far more structured than your typical Provencal rose. This one is made from Montepulciano vines with an average age of 24 years. The grapes are destemmed, and then the free run juice is fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts and no malolactic. Afterward the wine is aged purely in the bottle
This fuller bodied rose has notes of blood oranges, black cherries, raspberry tart and sage.
