Pronounced Tsel-yen-yak Kash-teh-lan-skee, Zaltan Otok Winery grows this varietal on an extreme mountainside on the tallest peak on Dalmatian Mountains in Croatia facing the Adriatic Sea. This wine shows good acid and notes of iron, clay, miso, coffee, espresso, walnuts, sundried tomatoes. Zlatan Otok Winery was the first to plant Crljenak Kaštelanski, an almost forgotten varietal, in 2007 after the discovery that it was genetically identical to Zinfandel and Primitivo.
